Community Oncology Alliance

Community Oncology Alliance

The Community Oncology Alliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that cancer patients receive quality, affordable, and accessible cancer care in their own communities. Adfero teamed up with COA to create campaigns that speak directly to lawmakers in DC about stopping E&M cuts and the horrors of pharmaceutical benefits managers, PBMs.

Cancer is Complex

When CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) proposed to cut reimbursements in evaluation and management by 22-40%, COA hired Adfero to jump into the conversation and declare that these cuts would hurt cancer patients. The messaging of this campaign focused on how the E&M cuts would devalue the specialized expertise of oncologists, and how patients would lose time with their oncologists and receive less intensive care. Cancer is complex, and cannot be treated the same as sniffles or a strep test.

PBM Abuses

Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) are the middlemen that come between patients and their doctors, causing unnecessary suffering by delaying, denying, or obstructing care. Because of PBMs, patients with cancer and other serious diseases often pay more for treatment and don’t get the care they need. This campaign features real PBM patient horror stories. The Community Oncology Alliance (COA) is exposing PBM Abuses and fighting to give patients a voice in Washington to stop them. Visit the campaign website at pbmabuses.org.
